A Young Gentleman Drinks Abusively, Gets Motivated To Get Treatment For Depression And Alcohol Dependency, And Improves His Life
Ralph began drinking abusively when he was a freshman in college. Fortunately for him, although he drank excessively when he was a teen and a young adult, when he got beyond the age of thirty he almost always drank in moderation.
After he finished his education he eventually found employment at a local food processing plant where he applied himself and worked his way up from stock person, to office assistant, to purchasing assistant, to purchasing manager. Unlike his other positions, as the purchasing manager he often took potential vendors and existing vendors to lunch and to a variety of sporting events.
Although it was not written in stone, meeting with potential vendors and existing vendors repeatedly involved circumstances in which alcohol was present. In fact, over the past thirteen months, Ralph had begun to significantly increase his work related and his social drinking. This has led to a predicament. More explicitly, the more successful he became as a purchasing agent, the more heavily he began to drink.
In truth, it did not take very long before Ralph's excessive and careless drinking started to adversely affect his health, his relationships, the money in his savings account, his work efficiency, and his mental health. At one point, Ralph, as a matter of fact, started to be concerned about his irresponsible and hazardous drinking and wondered whether his alcohol-related concerns were alcoholism signs. Moreover, his increasing bouts of depression also made him question whether he was becoming alcohol dependent. In short, Ralph obviously needed to learn more about the facts about alcohol abuse and the signs of alcoholism.
So Ralph used his intelligence, called his health care professional, and scheduled an appointment for a complete physical exam. A week later after seeing his doctor, Ralph regrettably learned that he was alcohol dependent. His doctor informed Ralph that he needed to get alcohol detoxification and alcohol treatment for his alcohol addiction and that he also needed to get a medical evaluation regarding his depression. In a word, Ralph needed treatment for his alcohol addiction and depression.
His doctor recommended to Ralph that he take a 60-day leave of absence from work and get enrolled in a quality in-patient alcohol rehabilitation clinic where his depression could also be treated. This is specifically what Ralph did. Fortunately after his treatment for depression and for alcohol addiction, he felt like a new individual. Indeed, now that he was living an alcohol-free life he rarely got depressed and he now knew how to more successfully and productively manage his finances, his job, his health, and his relationships.
To no one's disbelief, the biggest test Ralph came across was at the office. More to the point, he still took his existing vendors and potential vendors to various sporting events and to lunch, but after his alcohol rehab he managed to stay away from drinking while entertaining his clients.
It may be noted that Ralph also learned that none of his existing vendors or potential vendors thought any less of him because of his non-alcoholic lifestyle. Alternatively, he discovered that his potential vendors and existing vendors respected him for maintaining his convictions.
After Ralph went through alcohol rehabilitation he learned that if he refrained from drinking, all of the other significant parts of his life would be enhanced. Every so often, it can be emphasized, Ralph missed drinking, but the better finances, relationships, work performance, and the better health he experienced more than counterbalanced his craving for alcohol.
