The Latest In Carbide Endmill Designs In A Extended And Prospering Line From Iscar

Manufacturers and die & mold shops can eliminate chatter problems in many milling operations with Iscar's completely new Chatterfree carbide endmill. The cutters' variable-pitch flute pattern annihilates harmonic vibration, the primary source of chatter. This enables faster cutting and finer finish in rough or finish slotting, shoulder milling and cavity milling. In addition, end users also report prolonged edge life due to reduced chatter. The chatter-free ability is available in both solid carbide endmills and tips in Iscar's MULTI-MASTER replaceable-tip line. Diameter range is 6 to 20mm for the solid carbide endmills, and 8 to 20mm for MULTI-MASTER tips. These new endmills are excellent for lower power machines with ISO40 or BT40 adaptations. The solid carbide construction can handle full slot machining up to 2xD. Depth capability on the replaceable-tip construction is more restrained since the active length is shorter. In full slotting applications on alloy steel, the solid carbide version easily handles 0.03-0.05 feed rates at 180-220mm/min surface speed and 2xD depth of cut.

FINISHRED - Revolutionary Solid Carbide Endmills

Iscar is introducing the EFR.. B44 and the MM EFS.. Finishred a unprecedented solid carbide endmill family. The Finishred carbide endmill is a blend of both roughing and finishing endmills in a single tool. Roughing endmills remove material from work pieces more quickly and efficiently than traditional endmills. Yet, roughing endmills leave grooves on the machined surface. Consequently, after using a roughing endmill, a finishing endmill has to be used in order to obtain a smooth surface finish. This means time-consuming tool change, setup time and necessity of maintaining 2 endmill types in the inventory.

Features of the Finishred Endmills:

The EFR.. B44 and the MM EFS.. endmills feature four flutes with 45 degree helix, two serrated flutes and 2 continuous flutes.

The cutting edges of the finishing flutes are radially farther from the tool axis than the cutting edges of the serrated flutes. The finishing flutes remove the grooves caused by the roughing flutes, leaving a smooth surface finish.

The tool is fully effective and enables running at rough machining parameters, resulting in finish surface quality.

The exceptional tool design diminishes vibration at high load applications.

The tool generates short and long chips simultaneously. This chip mixture is evacuated more successfully than each individual chip type, an outstanding solution in slotting and cavity milling applications.

The Finishred is also available with the Multi-Master indexable milling head option which combines the Finishred features with the advantage of little setup time, no regrinding costs and the extensive range of shank and extension choices are available for the Multi-Master milling heads.

A single tool substitutes the roughing and finishing endmills; therefore reducing stock.

Tool change and setup time can be eradicated.

An extra tool position is acquired on the machine

New Chip Splitting Solid Carbide Endmills for High Metal Removal Rates

ISCAR is introducing the ECP-3/4L family of chip splitting endmills. The new endmills are available with 3 and 4 38 degree flutes in grade IC900. They feature 2xD and long shanks with scaled down neck diameter, which enable machining along high shoulders, at high feeds. These endmills, due to their chip splitting attribute and force distribution can be used very efficiently on low power machines (CAT40/BT40/ISO40). The serrated cutting edge features flat peaks which leave a better surface finish, in comparison to the current rougher carbide endmill. The ECP endmills are recommended for machining austenitic and martensitic stainless steel, at up to 2xD depth of cut. They can be used on alloyed steel as well. All of the introductory tests conducted at numerous customers' locations showed exceptional results.
